The History of Plascon & a Look Ahead to the Future
This year Plascon proudly celebrates 25 years of innovation, growth, and customer-first service in the flexible packaging industry. Before becoming a trusted name in Cook Chill packaging, films and Box Liners, Saftea® liners, and other specialized solutions, Plascon’s story began in a different setting - selling bag machines to correctional facilities.
The Early Years
In those early years, the focus was on providing institutions with in-house bag-making capabilities. Unlike traditional prison-made products like license plates or furniture, Plascon introduced a new opportunity enabling facilities to produce plastic bags. That early business model laid the foundation for what the company would become, and without it, Plascon wouldn’t be where it is today.
Cook Chill & BRCGS Certification
Over time, the company transitioned into manufacturing flexible packaging. The introduction of Cook Chill bags expanded Plascon’s capabilities and marked a shift toward food-focused solutions. This foray into the food packaging sector paved the way for achievements like the company’s BRCGS “AA+” certification - a testament to the high standards Plascon strives to uphold every day.
Expanding to the UK
Another important distinction was Plascon opening its office in the United Kingdom. Plascon UK helped Plascon efficiently expand to global markets. Through its UK office, Plascon currently conducts business with countries such as Qatar, Poland, Ireland, The United Arab Emirates, and more. This development further set Plascon apart from its competition.
Developing Products for New Industries
As the business continued to grow, Plascon expanded beyond food service into the pharmaceutical, lab, and biotech sectors producing precision-made liners and bags in an ISO-certified cleanroom to meet the needs of highly sensitive environments.
Introducing Saftea® Liner
A defining innovation came with the launch of the Saftea® Urn Liner, now widely used in restaurants and convenience stores throughout the country. Designed to simplify urn cleaning and help operators maintain consistent health standards, Saftea® Lineris a small product with a big impact.
Automation Machinery
In 2025, Plascon introduced automation to its Saftea® Liner manufacturing process, further highlighting its continuing commitment to set itself apart. Whether it be Plascon's unique origin, commitment to high safety standards, or its distinct products like Saftea® Liners, innovation has allowed it to stand the test of time and set itself apart from the competition.
